Big Secrets to a Fit Family

Big Secrets to a  Fit Family
It's no secret that many parents and their children are overweight.
These 10 simple ‘secrets’ can help you change your family's lifestyle so that you can all become fit and healthy.

1)Eat Whole Grain Foods
Processed and refined grains, such as white bread, white rice, cereal, pasta, and other foods made with white flour have a high glycemic index, low amounts of fiber, and less vitamins and minerals as foods made with whole grains.
Making the switch to whole grain foods, including whole wheat bread, whole grain pasta, brown rice, and cereals made with whole grains, are an easy and healthy way to make your family's diet more nutritious.

2) Limit Soda and Fruit Drinks
Soda and fruit drinks have low nutritional value and a lot of calories.
At about 150 calories per 12 ounce serving, your kids will gain an extra pound about every 3 weeks if they drink just one can of soda each day.
Cutting back or eliminating soda, fruit drinks, and even fruit juice, can be a good way to get rid of a lot of extra calories and leave room for your kids to eat more nutritious foods.

3) Eat More Foods with Calcium
A common mistake people make when trying to lose weight is that they stop drinking milk, eating cheese and yogurt.
Calcium is important to build healthy bones and to help you lose weight.
You should encourage your kids to drink low-fat milk, eat portioned amounts of cheese and yogurt to help lose weight and maintain a healthy weight.

4) Eat More Fruits and Vegetables
Most children don't eat enough fruits and vegetables and that usually means that they are eating other less nutritious foods.
With a high fiber content and lots of vitamins and minerals, fruits and vegetables are an important part of a healthy diet.
And because they have lots of water in them, eating fruits and vegetables can help you to feel full and satisfied so that you don't overeat.

5) Be More Active
Everyone knows that part of the cause of the current obesity epidemic is that people are much less active then they used to be.
Getting kids involved in organized activities, which can be either team or individual sports, and cutting back on the amount of time in front of the TV, computer and playing video games will burn calories and improve fitness levels.
Family activities are also a good way to be more physically active.
Even simple things, like walking across a parking lot, using stairs, and going for short family walks or bike rides, can make a big difference.

6) Learn About Carbs
Carbs get a bad wrap, especially with all of the proponents of high protein diets, like the Atkins and South Beach Diet.
Not all carbs are created equal.
While it is a good idea to avoid foods that have refined such as white bread, foods made with white flour, and foods and beverages sweetened with sugar, other carbs should be part of a balanced diet.
Instead of avoiding all carbs, just learn about how to choose foods with ‘good’ carbohydrates, which includes fruits, vegetables, beans, and whole grain foods.
7) Know Where Calories Come From
While you don't necessarily need to do daily calorie counts, keep a diary of what your family eats for a few days can help you see where extra calories are coming from.
Are your kids overweight because of the calories they get from a bedtime snack or those two glasses of Kool Aid or soda he drinks?
Or maybe because his portion sizes are too large?
If you know where your kids' calories are coming from, you will know where to make changes and how you can cut back, especially on foods that have a lot of empty calories.

8) Learn About Fats
Like carbs, there are ‘good’ and ‘bad’ fats.
Instead of making the mistake of trying to stick to a low fat diet, and simply substituting other foods that are often just as high in calories, you should eat foods that have ‘good’ fat in them.
This includes foods with polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats.
On the other hand, you should avoid saturated fats and trans fats.

9) Choose Healthy Meals when Eating Out
Even if your family eats healthy at home, if you eat super-sized fast food meals a few times a week, they are probably still at risk for becoming overweight.
If you eat out a lot, review the nutritional facts of the restaurant's menu and watch your portion sizes.
Calories and fat quickly adds up when eating out!

10) Stay Motivated!
Most people know what they need to do to be healthier however, eating healthy and exercising is not easy.
Education about the specifics of a healthy diet, getting the whole family involved, and setting goals, can help your family stay healthy and fit.
Hire a personal trainer or seek the counsel of a dietitian to keep you on the healthy track.

Fitness Rowers

 Fitness Rowers
It's important to read the fitness rower reviews before investing in them.
Fitness rowers give a complete workout and are high impact cardio vascular machines.

They help in cutting the flab as well as toning the body.
The fitness rowers simulate the action of rowing in water
 (like rowing small boats).
There is thus an exercise for the arms, legs and body.
Fitness rowers give a laundry abs (or abdomen), and more tight ass.
But they have some disadvantages.
They are very pushing for the joints and the knees, thus people who suffer from arthritis of the knees and the joints should avoid it.

Instead they should go in for the low impact cardio vascular machines.
Before using the fitness rowers, one should seek the advice of the doctor.
When you get the go ahead from the doctor, you'll find many reviews which can tell you which fitness rower will work the best for you.

The fitness rower reviews show the comparison between the various fitness rowers that are available in the market.
After you have gone thru a thorough comparison, make the decision to buy the fitness rower.

If done properly and without pushing yourself too far, then this machine is great for a whole body workout.
You can use the air rowers both at the gym as well as at home.
The home models are more compact and can be easily folded away under the bed or some such similar way.
That's why it's great even for small spaces.
Thus if you are looking for the home versions of the fitness rowers, look for a review such that the reviews of the fitness rowers help you in the purchase decision.

Ask your teacher gym, as well as a personal trainer to give you tips to buy the best rower fitness.
I ask the gym teacher is also a personal trainer to provide advice to buy the best rowing machine fitness.

Try Pilates! Stretch And Tone

One of the hottest trends in fitness today is Pilates.
Pilates is a combination of different body movements that is designed to strengthen, stretch and balance the body.
This body conditioning routine is designed and founded by Joseph H.
 Pilates.
He designed his exercise program by including precision, breathing, concentration, and control.
One of Pilates’ benefits is the improvement of lung capacity because the exercise incorporates deep and heavy breathing.
The mind and the muscles are both coordinated in an effective Pilates workout so the strength and flexibility of the abdomen, back, and stabilizer muscles is achieved.
Moreover, since the situation has improved in the strength of the body, and balance.
It will be with health, and the many benefits of complete and well-being that is sure to improve.

It spread to many gyms, spas, and Pilates studios that provide training and equipment around the world.
There is no doubt that already has a cult following.
The rich and the famous are also drawn to this mind and body exercise.
Jamie Lee Curtis, Marissa Tomei, Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts and Rod Stewart are few of the many celebrities who are practicing and reaping the benefits Pilates.
So if celebrities are paying big bucks to certified trainers in the country, then this really must be a great exercise.
Yes indeed!
It is one great workout. It would not be this popular if it isn’t.
There are two ways on how you can exercise Pilates.
One way is to focus on floor exercises.
Most people do body free, because they are cheaper and more convenient.
Only equipment you need is a mat and a coach.
If you can’t afford to hire a personal trainer, there are many home videos available in the market that features instructions on how to exercise Pilates.
Just make sure that you select videos from reputable instructors.
Also be careful when doing the exercises and routines yourself, doing Pilates without a trainer could cause you injury if you don’t perform it cautiously.
The other way to practice Pilates is through the use of equipments that will tone and strengthen the body.
Most gyms have these equipments and usually you have to pay a yearly fee to avail the use of their equipments and trainers.
During your workout it would be practical if you wear light and comfortable clothes.
Tights and a tank top are a good choice.
Stay focused on the routines and exercises.
Your instructor will teach you ways on how to breathe properly and combine it with the body movements.
You would not be able to achieve your fitness goals if you do not stay focused and disciplined to practice the right way of making the routines.
Start from the simple routines and work your way up to the more advanced and more rewarding routines.
This way your body could adjust slowly and possible injuries will be prevented.
Because Pilates focuses on strength and flexibility and new studies show that two 50-minute Pilates sessions only burn about 250 calories, it would be wise to combine it with other cardiovascular type workouts like running and step aerobics.
Lastly, don’t join the Pilates bandwagon just because you think it is the “in thing” nowadays.
Stick with this program, be disciplined and stay focused.
Pilates has many benefits, and soon you will realize that your body is improved.
It is indeed one great work out, it not only helps in enhancing your daily tasks through flexibility and improved body strength it also make your mind and spirit feel relaxed and rejuvenated.

Healthy Diet

 Healthy Diet:
If you have tried every so-called healthy diet plan on the planet and every exercise program from the latest fitness guru and repeatedly failed to achieve your weight loss goals, you probably need a “healthy diet check up...from the neck up.
There's no such thing as a healthy, fast, weight loss diet plan.
Successful weight loss doesn’t just happen.
It took more than a few days to reach the point where you are at right now.
Give yourself a break and expect it to take awhile before you see measurable results.
Take a leap of faith and follow some basic principles in your diet plan.
Begin with your “self talk.” This is the conversation that runs through your brain continuously.
What kind of conversation do you have with your self talk?
What type of negative self talk has kept you from reaching your weight loss goals in the past?
If you have the chance to do it again, do you change the dialogue?
This is a no brainer is not it?
Well, the good news is that you can turn the tide of negative self-talk at the beginning of the current time.
It's not too late to start, and start talking reprogramming the self and all begin with a weight loss diet, a new plan.
There is a good starting point is to start with positive affirmations.
Positive affirmations, spoken aloud with authority and conviction, and reflect positively on your situation, and focuses on thinking and lead to a series of actions that will help you become the person you wish to have and the things you want to be.
Begin by writing your weight loss affirmations on paper.
You can begin with something like,
“I want to lose 25 pounds before Christmas.”
That’s a worthy goal and attainable, but we need to put some work into structuring the affirmation.
First of all, “I want” gives the impression that what you desire is always in the future.
In order to re-program your self talk, you need to trick your mind into believing that you have already achieved weight loss success.
This is how your subconscious mind functions.
Your subconscious mind has no capacity for understanding the concept of time.
Everything is in the moment. . .here and now.
When you tell your subconscious mind that you “want”, that is exactly what you will get. . .want. . .without ever achieving fulfillment.
Unless you change your mental tape recorder, you will achieve exactly what you are telling your subconscious, that you “want to lose 25 pounds.” You will “want to lose 25 pounds” for the rest of your days unless you change your self talk.
If your weight is 150 pounds and you desire is to weight 125 pounds, then you need to “be” 125 pounds from the moment you make the decision to change your self talk.
What if you write your affirmation to read something like this:
“I am healthy and fit, weighing 125 pounds.”

It is extremely important that your affirmation is crystal clear because what you affirm is exactly what your subconscious mind will bring you.
You needn’t limit yourself to one affirmation either.
Write another one that reflects your new exercise program.
“I enjoy my healthy new diet plan,” or, “I love the healthy foods I eat.”
Write and rewrite until you are absolutely certain that you have written your weight loss goals “in the here and now” AND represent precisely what you desire.
Only then do you begin to speak it aloud and do so several times a day.
Remember to use the present tense.
“I acknowledge achievement in all my weight loss goals.”
“I have the skill and talent to exercise every day.”
“I am a winner.”
“I am grateful for all of my accomplishments no matter how small.”
At first you will feel awkward and uncomfortable and you may not feel or believe what you are saying.
It doesn’t matter, continue to speak them aloud with as much conviction as you can muster.
It’s taken a long time to train your subconscious to use negative self talk.
If you will persevere with speaking your affirmations aloud, firmly and confidently, you will be amazed at how quickly you can turn your thoughts around.
You didn’t hop on a bicycle the first time and just take off down the street.
It took practice to train your body to balance on those two wheels.
This will take some practice as well.
Continue to repeat your affirmations aloud, several times a day for the next 30 days and you will be amazed at how much you change your thinking and attitude.
Above all, take action.
Do nothing and nothing gets done.
Do something and many things are placed in motion.
Regardless of what you are doing in life, you need to take action.
Do something every day to put your plan into motion.

How To Be Good To Your Stomach

 Be Good To Your Stomach:
Our stomach is one of the parts of the body that receives the harshest treatment and the least appreciation.
Think about it.
When is the last time you were really thankful that your stomach was working properly?
Perhaps it takes seeing a friend or family member who has a rough stomach for us to really be grateful for our stomach health.
But it shouldn't.
We must be always treated with care in the stomach so that it can do its job without causing pain for us.
Can be good for your stomach to be simple.
Maybe you do wise choices for your stomach, or maybe you have to make some changes in the pattern of life is hard to be really good for your stomach.
Whatever it requires, you should commit to being good to your stomach from this point forward.

What does it mean to be good to your stomach?
Basically, to be good to your stomach means watching the things you put into it and the things you do.
Surely everyone has experienced the pain of eating a meal that is too spicy or too greasy or too full of acid.
Our stomachs do so much in the process of breaking down our food choices.
Many times our stomachs are able to cover up some of our eating "sins," but other times they let us know that we have made a poor choice.
I'm convinced that we owe it to our stomachs
(not to mention to the rest of our bodies) to make healthy eating choices that are easy on our bodies and good for our health.

Take some time to evaluate the things you are putting into your stomach each day.
Are you being kind or harsh?
Do you notice any patterns that could perhaps be harmful to your digestive system?
If so, consider changing them.
You only have one stomach, and therefore it requires your upmost attention and care.
Different stomachs have different levels of tolerance for spices, acids, and foods.
You may not be able to eat everything your neighbor or even your spouse can eat.
It is important that you learn, if you haven't already, what is good for you and stick to it.

The great thing about learning to eat based on the reaction of your stomach is that you will end up making good choices not only for your stomach but also for the rest of your body.
The chances are high that what is good for your stomach will also benefit your body and your overall health.
So be intentional about what you eat and drink and don't hesitate to pass up things that aren't good for you or your stomach.

This exercise gives more stability when the feet are spread apart and tougher when the feet are put closely together.
Although a fitness ball provides many advantages, there are also some pitfalls especially if overused.
